The presentation shows a scene from Half Life 2.

You can select the various Anti-Aliasing modes with the radio buttons, and the images will immediately show the game scene rendered with that setting. So it's very easy to compare the various filter grades.

To render the images, the following hardware and software settings were used:

  • nVidia 6800GT
  • Driver version 67.66
  • Screen resolution 640x480
  • 16x Anisotropic Filter
  • All settings in Half Life 2 maxed out (with the exception of AA)
  • Driver Settings: "Quality", all optimizations off (Trilinear, anisotropic samples and anisotropic filter)
  • All images are stored in the lossless .png format

Note: The upper left corner of the image (containing some branches of a dead tree) has been put in a separate zoomed in window. Since these branches are made using alpha-blended textures, only supersampling or combined modes will have an effect on them.

The effect of all anti-aliasing modes can best be seen at the edges of the wall in the left part of the image, which is also zoomed in in a separate window.

The saved game position that has been used for this presentation can be downloaded here.
